You come from different traditions
Maybe one of you grew up Catholic and the other Jewish, Hindu or Methodist. We'll weave the most meaningful parts of both into one ceremony, so no one feels left out.

“She was the most perfect part of our wedding!”
Joyce & Tom
I'm Rev. Christie Mabry, an interfaith minister in Raleigh. Together, we'll create a ceremony that tells your love story and honors what you believe, whether that's religious, spiritual, a blend of traditions, or not religious at all.
Our first conversation is always free, with no obligation.
Every couple is welcome
If any of these sound like you, you're in the right place.
Maybe one of you grew up Catholic and the other Jewish, Hindu or Methodist. We'll weave the most meaningful parts of both into one ceremony, so no one feels left out.
You want a sense of the sacred without the dogma. Many of my couples are finding their own way after the faith they grew up with. You're in good company.
A ceremony can be deeply moving without mentioning God at all. Yours can be all about your love, your story and the promises you're making.
Divorced parents, blended families, a grandmother hoping for a prayer. It's more common than you'd think, and I'll help you honor everyone with grace.
LGBTQ+ couples, second marriages, elopements and vow renewals are all warmly welcome. What exactly is an interfaith minister?
“Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay.”
“Lovers don't finally meet somewhere. They're in each other all along.”
“Love is patient, love is kind.”
“Understanding is love's other name.”
“Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it.”
“Love one another, but make not a bond of love: let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.”
“The best thing to hold onto in life is each other.”
Love, in the words of many traditions
Meet Rev. Christie
I grew up Catholic, the treasured tradition of my father. I spent many years in the Episcopal and Unity communities, and later converted to Judaism, the rich tradition of my mother's family. So when a couple tells me they come from two different worlds, I understand. And I know how beautiful those worlds can be together.
I was ordained in 2015 after two years at One Spirit Interfaith Seminary in New York. I'm also a teacher and coach by profession, which mostly means I'm a very good listener. Nervous couples seem to appreciate that!
How it works
Text or email me your date and venue, and I'll let you know if I'm free.
A relaxed, complimentary conversation about the two of you: your love story, what you believe, and anything you're worried about.
I'll walk you through how ceremonies usually flow, then write yours. We'll shape it together until every word feels right.
On your wedding day I'll be there early, calm and ready, guiding you both through your ceremony with warmth (and a little humor).
The cathedral of nature
Almost all of my ceremonies happen outdoors. There's something special about saying your vows under an open sky. Forest clearings, rose gardens, horse farms, a lakeside or your own backyard: I'll meet you there, anywhere within about an hour of the Triangle.

Kind words
Finding an officiant isn't easy, but once my husband and I met Christie, we knew we had the right person. She is warm and kind, and we were immediately comfortable with her. She took time to get to know us, hear the story of our relationship, and really understand what we wanted our wedding ceremony to look like.
She fully honored our requests and wrote a ceremony more beautiful and meaningful than we could have imagined.
Her warmth, humor, substantial spiritual knowledge, and insight guided us through writing our vows and gracefully dealing with family dynamics… She was the most perfect part of our wedding!
As a religiously diverse couple, we were unsure how we could craft a ceremony that spoke to both of us, but Christie was able to craft a ceremony that incorporated all of the diverse elements that touched our hearts.
Fees
From a fully custom celebration to a quiet signing with two witnesses, there's a ceremony for every kind of day.
Written from scratch around your love story, with rituals such as a candle lighting or hand-fasting if you'd like them.
A ceremony of up to 10 minutes, at the venue of your choice.
The two of you plus two witnesses, at the venue of your choice.
Beyond the wedding day
Weddings are the heart of my work, and I'm honored to stand with families at other milestones, too.
Big joyful celebrations, intimate gatherings, and just-the-two-of-you elopements.
Celebrate the life you've built, and the promises you're still keeping.
A gentle welcome for a new little one, drawn from the traditions that matter to your family.
A compassionate, personal service to honor someone you love.
